ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THE EARTHQUAKE?
IS YOUR HOA PREPARED FOR THIS EVENT?
A group of interested residents at Sunrise Racquet Club (SRC) banded together as volunteers and developed a plan for SRC residents to help prevent panic and chaos. We call it “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”
Assisting with this coordination are Nancy Luckritz, Paula Auburn and Bob Smith, “graduates” of the City of Palm Springs Certified Emergency Response Training (C.E.R.T.). The recommendations and the plan are not offered in any official capacity nor is it an official plan of the HOA or HOA Board of Directors.
The plan has two levels:
First – each household must plan and prepare for their own needs, such as water, food, clothing, medicines, etc. No central supply or source of these items exists. Professional emergency personnel state that each household should be prepared to survive at least two weeks without outside help. To be safe, they recommend planning for an additional week.
Second – each neighborhood (HOA) should have a response plan. Due to legal considerations an HOA should rely on volunteers, preferably with CERT training, to design and coordinate this plan.
